The 4th Conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA)

Call for Session Proposals – Lausanne 2011

The fourth Conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA) will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 18th to 22nd of July, 2011.

The conference Chair is Professor Patrick Sturgis (University of Southampton). It will be organized in cooperation with the Swiss Centre of Expertise in the Social Sciences (FORS, www.fors.unil.ch) and the University of Lausanne (www.unil.ch).

Session proposals are invited in any area of survey methodology, or in substantive areas of survey research. We particularly encourage submissions in the following areas:

  • Sampling and sample design
  • Web surveys
  • Unit Nonresponse and attrition
  • Item nonresponse
  • Weighting and imputation
  • Question testing and piloting
  • Survey mode
  • Data linkage
  • Election polling and public opinion
  • Survey analysis techniques
  • Methods for cross-national analysis
  • Paradata and fieldwork
  • Substantive applications
  • Longitudinal surveys
  • Data archiving

If your proposal is accepted by the conference committee, your session will be advertised in an open call for papers that will be issued in September 2010. As coordinator, papers submitted to your session will be sent directly to you by email and it will be your responsibility to decide in a timely manner whether to accept the paper or not.

The closing date for session proposals is 31 August 2010.


How to submit/edit a proposal


1. On the left hand side of this page, click “Sign up” to create an ESRA account;
2. After you have created your ESRA account, you will be directed to your personal page.
3. On your personal page, click “Propose a new session”;
4. You can later review or change your proposal by logging in again;
5. The scientific committee will contact you with a decision on your proposal in September.
