We are pleased to announce that the 2007 conference of the European Survey Research Association will be held in Prague.

Please see the website of the local organising committee in Prague for more information about travel, accomodation and registration.

Registration for the conference is closed.

ESRA 2007 will be organised by the University of Economics, Prague. The local committee is formed by:

• Petr Mazouch, Dept. of Demography, Faculty of Informatics and Statistics
• Simona Merinska (Conference Administrator), Social Surveys Section, Czech Statistical Office

The location has facilities similar to those of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra of the Barcelona conference and the town is equally attractive. We plan to develop a programme for the conference that is comparable with the ESRA 2005 programme.

Three keynote speakers have been invited to the conference:

• Monday 25 June: Jan van Deth, Measuring Social Capital
• Wednesday 27 June: Albert Satorra, The Problems of Testing Structural Equation Models
• Friday 29 June: Vasja Vehovar, Web Surveys: advantages and disadvantages

Two pre-conference workshops are organised this year: please see the local committee website for more details.

The time table for the sessions:

Please submit your proposal for a presentation to esra2007(at)sqp.nl. Include the name, email address, and affiliations of all the authors, the name of the person who will be presenting the paper, the title of the presentation, and an abstract of around 250 (max. 500) words. If you can, please suggest the session in which you think your paper belongs.

The preferred format for submissions is plain text. Microsoft Word is also acceptable, but please note that fonts (including the "Symbol" font!), italics etc. will be lost. If you need to use formulas or special symbols, please use laTeX markup. Alternatively, you can use the Unicode (UTF-8) symbols of your standard font to insert special symbols such as Greek letters and so on.

The topics of the conference will be similar to the topics of the previous conference, but we also welcome new suggestions.

Scholars who would like to organise a session can send their proposal to the ESRA email address esra2007(at)sqp.nl .

The proposals could suggest a session on methodological issues of survey research such as data collection or analysis or on methodological problems in substantive research based on survey data.

The week before the ESRA conference the final conference of the programme Quantitative Methods for the Social Sciences (QMSS) of the European Science Foundation (ESF) will be held in Prague as well from June 21-23. This was done on purpose in order to facilitate the participation in both conferences. The meeting of QMSS will be organised by the same local committee. Each session receives one session slot to begin with. But more slots can be allotted if needed. Each slot lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Each presentation get 30 minutes of time for presentation. This includes discussion time: the presentation itself should last 20 minutes after which there are 10 minutes for discussion.

Thus each session slot can contain three presentations. As mentioned above, some sessions will contain more than three presentations. In that case the committee assigns as many slots as needed to the session.
