Structure of the Conference

At the conference each session will take 2 hours. Each speaker will have 20 minutes for presentation and discussion except the coordinator who will have 40 minutes for the key note speech including discussion.

The sessions will start with the keynote speech of the coordinator, preferably providing a state of the art overview of the research in the field.

Each session will then consist of:

  • one keynote speech of 40 minutes

  • 4 presentations of 20 minutes

If there are more than 4 speakers besides the coordinator an extra session immediately after the break following each session can be obtained. In that session 6 additional papers can be presented. If there are fewer papers than fit into a session the rest of the time can be filled with a longer time for discussion. Session coordinators can also decide to dedicate a slot of a paper in the first session for a general discussion. In case of a session with a coherent topic that requires further discussion this is an attractive option. We suggest to sticking to the 20 minutes schedule in order to make it possible for people to move from one session to another.

Session Coordinators

We would like you to invite people with special knowledge about the topic of your session. They should send you an abstract of the presentation being proposed. If you accept a paper for presentation, please forward, as soon as possible, the abstract of the paper along the name, institution and email address of the author(s) to us at esra@sqp.nl.
As session organiser, you can decide whether you accept or reject a paper for presentation. Please send us the decisions you make immediately to the above mentioned address so that we can write to the applicants the result. By March 1, 2009 at the latest we should get an overview of the papers to be presented and the sequence of presentations.

Call for papers

Proposals for presentations should be submitted to esra@sqp.nl by February 1st, 2009 at the latest. They should include the name, email address, and affiliations of all the authors, the name of the person who will be presenting the paper, the title of the presentation, and an abstract of around 250 (max. 500) words, as well as a suggestion of the session(s) the paper would belong to.
The preferred format for submissions is plain text. Microsoft Word is also acceptable, but please note that fonts (including the “Symbol” font!),

italics etc. will be lost. So please do not present formulas in the abstract. All abstracts will be checked by the ESRA Committee and will be forwarded to the session coordinator whose topic is most similar to the abstract’s topic. Session coordinators will have the final say in the admittance of proposals, and will send the ESRA Committee their decisions, who will then communicate the author(s) the outcome.
