Questionnaire Design for Multipopulation Studies

Session: Designing and testing survey instruments for comparative research

Author:

  • Janet Harkness; University of Nebraska, Lincoln, United States

Abstract:

The paper presents an overview of both conventional and less conventional options for the design and realization of survey questionnaires deliberately designed for implementation in multiple cultures and languages. While we aim to provide concrete information on general considerations of comparative instrument design, we also wish to point to and explain preferred strategies and discipline-determined requirements in a variety of fields (educational testing, health research and social and behavioural sciences).
