Warsaw 2009: Sessions
Integration of objective and subjective indicators: methodological and technical issues
Planned on Thursday, 11:00 - 13:00 in Room 2.4.
Coordinators:
- Filomena Maggino; Università degli Studi di Firenze , Italy
Description:
The necessity to study and comprehend facts by observing different components with reference to two different perspectives, traditionally classified in terms of objective and subjective components, is felt in many research fields concerning social phenomena – from economics to education. Lately this need is mounting particularly in the discussion about the new perspectives in measuring well-being of societies.
However, the identification of the two aspects – objective and subjective – represents in itself an observational reduction of the reality that should find an integration in order to avoid a unrealistic contraposition between two different “realities”.
In order to make the observation, analysis and integration of the two perspective meaningful, many issues have to be faced (methodological and technical) that hopefully could be discussed in the ambit of the proposed session.
