How to facilitate in order to compare - infrastructures for data cooperation

Description:
The proposed session will focus on the different aspects of data infrastructures for empirical social research such as comprehensive data documentation and issues of standardisation and the idea of open access to data.
Within the framework of the session recent Polish-German cooperation in facilitating international data access to national studies and will be presented focusing on the example of a POLPAN Study (1988-2003) providing insights into Polish social structure and its changes during the post-communist transformation.
The second part of the session will be devoted to the presentation of German standard demography and the standardisation instruments used in POLPAN, and it is going to be followed by a discussion of the issue of comparability of the applied standards.
