Description:
In 2008, the European Values Study (www.europeanvalues.nl) had its fourth wave (earlier waves were conducted in 1981, 1990, and 1999). In 2008, in all European countries, 1500 respondents are interviewed about their core values: religious values, political values, family values, work values, and morality. The repeated cross-sectional design makes that for many countries there are now time series, for 13 countries starting in 1981, and for 20 countries starting in 1990. For the ESRA-conference, we are particularly interested in country-specific papers that use the longitudinal character of the European Values Study. Both substantive and methodological papers are welcome. Have values changed over time and over cohorts? What methodological problems are there and how can these be solved?
