Planned on Friday, 11:00 - 13:00 in Room 1.2.
Coordinators:
- Tina Kogovšek; University of Ljublana, Slovenia
Description:
Social networks have been fruitful in different areas of sociology, and many other scientific fields. The concept of the network is defined by a set of units, or nodes, connected by relationships, or ties. The most lively area of social network analysis has been the development of suitable methods that address the three main issues in empirical research: sampling, measurement, and data analysis. In each of these areas, the problems faced by network researchers are considerably, though not entirely, different from those encountered by conventional attribute-based research. This session will provide a forum for presentation of new developments network measurement. The papers may be theoretical, concerning operationalization, measurement models, and other important network measurement issues; or empirical, demonstrating novel applications of social network measurements in actual research.
